Ed Szczepanski-US PRESSWIRE

Demarcus Dobbs, who is an RFA was tendered yesterday for $1.431MM. He is solid depth on the D-line, but for the life of me, I still cannot figure out why he is listed at TE. It's not like it matters, at all, but It's always interesting to see a defensive lineman wearing an offensive number (83.) In other news, Eric Reid tweeted out that he wants Donte Whitner to stay. It's not surprising that he wants his safety counterpart to stay, it is surprising (at least to me) when players make their opinions on the roster public. There really isn't any upside, even if it works out and Whitner signs. If he walks, there is the potential for an awkward situation if another safety is brought in. Before I get misunderstood, let me step on the breaks, I do not believe for a second that this is a big deal, or any kind of deal. If he pulled an Adrian Peterson and openly lobbied for another safety, that would be awkward, but this is not on that level.

Free Agency is going to be starting soon and It's hard to tell what we are going to do in the draft until our free agent's futures are resolved. If Donte Whitner leaves, Safety pretty much needs to be addressed early. As for corners, even If Tarell Brown leaves, I'm not convinced that a corner absolutely needs to be taken in the first two rounds. I won't be holding my breath on any big time FA signings, but that doesn't mean that good players can't be found. Michael Bennett, who we are somehow linked to was a really cheap and underrated signing last year. Now he is set to make a huge payday this offseason. There are diamonds in the rough that can contribute, Baalke just has to find them. Anyways, to the links!

I really didn't want to link Florio. I was about to link another site, but giving them credit for Florio's opinion didn't feel right and this is an interesting story. I doubt the 49ers have any serious interest here, more than likely they are pulling a Dave from Storage Wars and yupping the price way up. 49ers could make a run at Michael Bennett (PFT)
