I have to admit that I was severely tempted to use the headline "Niners Sign DeSean Jackson", but April Fool's hoaxes are so 10 years ago. Instead we have more pre-draft speculation. Today, Field Yates of ESPN is proposing that the 49ers trade a pair of draft choices (2nd and 5th round) to acquire Andre Johnson from the Houston Texans. He's not trying to start any rumors, merely imagining a scenario driven by the team's need for a vertical threat and the excess amounts of draft picks they have. We could certainly use that kind of talent and the price tag is not too steep, but the question is, "would Houston be willing to part with him?". The answer would lie in whether they would like to do a mini-rebuild since they will have a new QB also, and also if the 49ers could do a little bit of restructuring with Johnson's contract. Clearly far-fetched, but not an altogether bad idea.

Backed into a Corner
Finally a few pieces on current and former Cornerbacks. More reflection on what Chris Culliver did and it's implications, plus a few thing about newly acquired CB Chris Cook which you may not have known. And of course, the Raider's signing of Carlos Rogers.
