2014 NFL Draft rankings: Figuring out NN safety rankings

We've wrapped up the NN wide receiver and cornerback rankings. Now it's time to move on to our safety rankings. Vote for your top 5 safeties.

David Manning-USA TODAY Sports

Over the last week, we've put together site rankings for the wide receiver and cornerback prospects in the 2014 NFL Draft. Those were voted on as the two top positions for the 49ers needs in May. Late last month, we ran a poll on team needs, and after wide receiver and cornerback, safety pulled in comfortably as the No. 3 position. With that in mind, our next poll down below looks at the safety prospects.

I've picked the first 25 safeties based on Poldarn's mid-March consensus big board. His board consists of several different individual big boards, so it gives a little better idea of how people are ranking out all the prospects.

In ranking your prospects, I want you to keep a couple things in mind. You are ranking them in a vacuum. You are NOT considering if they'll be there when the 49ers draft at No. 30. Given the number of assets at their disposal, the 49ers could conceivably trade up for ANY of these safeties. Please do not leave out a Calvin Pryor or Ha Ha Clinton-Dix because you think other teams will draft them before the 49ers. Instead, you are simply considering how each player fits with the 49ers and their needs. If you think a highly rated safety is not the right safety for the 49ers, that's fine to not include them in your vote. People can disagree on that, as scouting has certain subjectivities to it.

The way the voting works, the guy you vote 1 gets 5 points, the guy you vote 2 gets 4 points, and so on down the line. That allows us to figure out some consensus rankings.

If you have any questions, let me know.
