Fooch's Update: FAQ on this whole situation

Fooch's Update: The investigation is for a "suspicious incident" - Updated post HERE - I originally posted this based on TMZ's report of "possible sexual assault", and that has changed to the current terminology.

Fooch's Update - The 49ers have released a statement:

"The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts."

TMZ is reporting that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being investigated in Miami, Florida for a possible sexual assault. It is important to note in this article that they say the investigation is in the "beginning stages". No charges have been filed.

The report states this revolves around an incident "earlier this month" at the Viceroy Hotel. There are no details at this point.

We have no idea what happened, but for now we have to take a couple things into account. It's TMZ, and sometimes they've been known to jump the gun. More importantly, even if an investigation is going on, it's impossible to know what the allegations could mean. Michael Crabtree was accused of sexual assault following the 49ers 2013 playoff win over the Packers (before facing the Falcons). There was an investigation, but charges were never filed.

At this point, we don't know if these charges are legit, or if they are simply a shakedown attempt. We'll wait for more, but as always I want to keep you informed of 49ers news.
