2014 NN community mock draft: With the 4th pick, the Cleveland Browns select ...

The 2014 Niners Nation NFL mock draft is off and running. We move on to the Cleveland Browns, courtesy of user Boss Clifford.

We're back for the fourth pick of the 2014 Niners Nation Community Mock Draft. We got going yesterday with the first three picks, which you can see below in the draft table. You can also follow the mock draft board through this story stream.

With the fourth pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, Boss Clifford and the Cleveland Browns select Sammy Watkins, wide receiver, Clemson. Here is a quick rundown of the alternates he considered. Some of the alternates he considered included Central Florida QB Blake Bortles, Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel, Fresno State QB Derek Carr, and Buffalo OLB Khalil Mack. Here are his thoughts on the pick:

At this point in the draft, the question for the Browns is whether to pick a QB at 4 or 26. Seeing that the only team definitely to take a QB until pick No. 26 is Minnesota, the Browns opt for the best wide receiver prospect the draft has seen in recent years, and gamble on the right quarterback falling to 26 (or later). Watkins shows amazing quickness and agility, and surprising toughness and catch radius for his "average" size. He's about the surest bet on any of the remaining prospects, and fills a huge need as a huge upgrade to whoever was the Brown's No. 2 receiver. Khalil Mack was considered, but given the investments in Jabaal Sheard, Barkevious Mingo, and Paul Kruger as edge rushers, WR and QB are greater needs.

Trevor Woods: The Browns signed a good slot receiver in Andrew Hawkins in March, and have a legitimate number one receiver in Josh Gordon, now all they need is a good number two wideout. Watkins would give the Browns a receiving corps (along with TE Jordan Cameron) that could single handedly beat a defense any given Sunday.

Nick Chiamardas: Watkins is the consensus number one receiver this year and as Boss pointed out, he'll be the number two in Cleveland. I love the pick even though I have Watkins as the second best receiver. Watkins is a perfect compliment to Josh Gordon and TE Jordan Cameron. Of course QB may still be an option but word is the Browns are willing to give Brian Hoyer another chance after he impressed in 2013 before tearing his ACL. The Browns would be smart to invest this early pick in Watkins and address other needs at QB and RB later in round one and early in round two. Great pick by Boss.
