Golden Nuggets: Well That Escalated Quickly

What a week. First, TMZ ran a story that Colin Kaepernick was being investigated for a sexual assault incident in Florida. At the end of the weekend, we hear news that Aldon Smith was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for a false report of a bomb. Only thing I could think of what is happening with this team. Why are the Niners in the news for all the wrong reasons?

After the weekend, the story clears up in Colin's case. TMZ reported the case being a sexual assault charge when it was revealed that there was no sexual activity according to the woman. She reported being naked in a bed at Ricardo Lockette's apartment and waking up in the hospital with no recollection of how she got there. News broke out that Lockette had called the police to have her removed and that the fire department had transported her to hospital. How TMZ can "report" sexual assault and put Colin's name with that charge is irresponsible. I would not be surprised if Colin takes them to court for this false reporting. That kind of reporting could hurt his reputation and his ability to market himself.

Aldon Smith, on the other hand, is in serious trouble. Saying 'bomb' in an airport is not acceptable in this country. I hate the security screening at the airports, but you just can't say that word. With this being another legal issue for Aldon, he will have to be prepared for swift punishment from Roger Goodell. It may come even before the charges are actually resolved. All these legal issues makes the NFL and the 49ers look bad. This young man will most likely find himself suspended. But this could also effect his next contract and even his future as an NFL player.
