Fooch's Update: Wide receivers 1-5 have been tallied. You can view results and vote for 6-10 HERE.
Last night, we learned that free agent wide receiver DeSean Jackson was going to sign a 3-year deal with Washington. Jackson was likely a long-shot for the 49ers given the team's financial situation, but it was still interesting to at least consider the situation.
Now that Jackson's status is resolved, it's safe to fully look forward to the 2014 NFL Draft. The 49ers seem to be just about a lock to grab at least one wide receiver with one of their 11 picks. There have been suggestions that they move up to grab a big name in the first round, but this is also a deep draft. They could potentially grab a cornerback in the first round, and then grab a solid wide receiver on Day 2.
We're slowly working our way toward the draft, and I thought rather than go straight to our Big Board, we'd start with position rankings. Given the Jackson news, I thought we'd start at wide receiver. The idea is if every single one of these players was available, which would you take. This isn't about, who you would trade up for, and who you'd sit and wait for at No. 30. We're ranking these guys based on how we see them fitting the 49ers.
The way the voting works, the guy you vote 1 gets 5 points, the guy you vote 2 gets 4 points, and so on down the line. That allows us to figure out some consensus rankings. I haven't decided yet, but I might run a second poll, removing the first five, and then figuring out 6-10. We'll see how this plays out the next 24 or so hours.
If you have any questions, let me know.
