Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

We're back for the 41st pick of the 2014 Niners Nation Community Mock Draft. You can see previous picks below in the draft table. You can also follow the mock draft board through this story stream.

With the 41st pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, jmart7 and the Buffalo Bills select Lamarcus Joyner, DB, Florida State. He also considered defensive tackle Rashede Hageman, wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, and safety Deone Bucannon. Here is his reasoning for the pick:

Jimmie Ward was the prospect I was coveting at this spot, but unfortunately the Bills just barely missed him. Instead, they draft the best secondary player available in Lamarcus Joyner. Joyner will step in and compete for a starting spot right away among the Bills secondary. Capable of playing in the slot or outside corner, Joyner will see playing time at both positions. Joyner isn't the fastest and most athletic prospect available, but what he lacks in size and speed, he makes up for with his football IQ and decision making. Joyner has been praised for his outstanding work ethic and leadership characteristics and will be a great addition to a Bills team fighting for a playoff spot.

I also considered going BPA here and drafting Rashede Hageman as he continues to tumble down the draft board. However, the need at secondary outweighs that on the DL. Kelvin Benjamin would be an instant upgrade to the Bills offense, but after drafting The best tight end in the first round, I decided to focus on defense with this pick. Deone Bucannon was also in consideration with this pick as the next best safety in the draft, however he would be a reach this early in the second round.

Trevor Woods: Are the Bills ready to compete in the NFC AFC East next season? I'm thinking so. Surprisingly, this is a team with very few holes to fill, it's a solid roster. Joyner could be used at both safety and nickel corner for the Bills, providing Buffalo with a "swiss army knife" of sorts on defense.

Nick Chiamardas: Losing Jairus Byrd will be tough to over come but the Bills do have last year's rookie Duke Williams ready to compete for the starting spot. Adding some competition isn't a bad thought and like the previous pick (Jimmie Ward to Minnesota) Joyner is a jack of all trades on defense. Joyner will give the Bills some options on defense with Joyner's ability to play anywhere in the secondary. GM Doug Whaley said back in March that Byrd's replacement will come from the current roster, but we know we can't trust GMs in March. Joyner would add a veteran presence, even as a rookie, and even if beat out by Williams for the starting safety job, his talent level will allow him to see playing time early on somewhere in the secondary.
