2014 NN community mock draft: With the 42nd pick, the Tennessee Titans select ...

The 2014 Niners Nation NFL mock draft is off and running. We move on to the Tennessee Titans, courtesy of user 49feelinfine.

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

We're back for the 42nd pick of the 2014 Niners Nation Community Mock Draft. You can see previous picks below in the draft table. You can also follow the mock draft board through this story stream.

With the 42nd pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, jmart7 and the Tennessee Titans select Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB, Georgia Tech. He also considered:

Chris Borland, ILB - although a little undersized, Borland has about as good of game tape as you could ask for. Instincts, effort, and attitude along with his nose for the football make up for his height and lack of superior athleticism, but the value just isn't there as recent trends have shown ILB value has declined in the draft, meaning he (or other starter-level talent) could be available later

Tre Mason, Bishop Sankey, RB - The need is definitely there, however, just like with ILB above (and maybe even more so), the draft value of a RB just isn't what it once was. There will also be a bunch of good options available later. Shonn Greene definitely isn't Adrian Peterson, but is serviceable along with a mid-round selection

Kelvin Benjamin, Jordan Matthews, WR - these would be value picks as Tennessee definitely has a greater need in other areas, but the value - especially with Benjamin, who has an upside as high as almost any player in the draft if he can put it all together in the right situation - was tough to pass up.

Here are his thoughts on the pick:

In the end, though, the Titans will be happy to address their (arguably) biggest need by adding a fantastic pass rusher in Jeremiah Attaochu. Attaochu hails from Nigeria and only started playing football in high school. He wasn't able to work out at the combine, but his pro day numbers were as impressive as any - 4.58 and 4.63 in the 40 with 1.55 and 1.60 splits, 37.5 vertical jump, 7.28 3-cone, and 4.64 short shuttle according to a tweet from Kevin Weidl. Those are crazy good numbers for a guy who is all of 6'3 and a bit over 250 lbs.

He also has the production, albeit in the ACC - he holds the Georgia Tech sack record at 31.5, which is good for 5th in the ACC record books as well. He has some versatility to his game as well, as he has played linebacker on the inside as well as the outside in college and even put his hand in the dirt and had success as a DE. My opinion is that his best fit is on the outside in a 3-4, which is what Tennessee will be looking to run.

Why is he not a top-10 prospect then, you ask? Well, although he is an exceptional pass rusher, the other aspects of his game are much more undeveloped at this time. He struggled when dropping back into coverage and isn't above average against the run either (although I would argue that he is average in this regard, but certainly not anything above that). It will be at least two years for a team to help him develop these aspects of his game up to the standard it needs to be for him to reach his full potential as an OLB. There are also teams that will think he can build into a DE - which he probably can do - however this too will take time and require he develop a better game against the run.

In all, however, for a team that is absolutely DESPERATE for a pass rusher, he is a fantastic get as the 42nd overall selection.

Trevor Woods: After drafting Justin Gilbert in the first round, the Titans continue to try and bolster their defense drafting a pass rusher here. Attaochu projects as stricly a 3-4 outside linebacker, and he would fit the Titans scheme. Look for him to be used in situational pass-rush roles as a rookie.

Nick Chiamardas: Attaochu is an athletic freak capable of becoming the best edge rusher in this class. Tennessee is in flux in 2014 when it comes to defense having run a 4-3 for a number of years. They hired Ray Horton this off season and will likely begin implementing some 3-4 looks. Horton will likely employ a hybrid-style defense and Attaochu will fit that mold well. His burst off the edge and ability to cause disruption could lead to him being an every down player for the Titans early in his career.
