We're back for the 45th pick of the 2014 Niners Nation Community Mock Draft. You can see previous picks below in the draft table. You can also follow the mock draft board through this story stream.

With the 45th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, germinator and the Detroit Lions select Cody Latimer, WR, Indiana. He also considered Florida cornerback Marcus Roberson, and Clemson wide receiver Martavis Bryant. Here are his thoughts on the pick:

With their second round section, the Detroit Lions continue the run at WR. This time its Cody Latimer's name that gets called at the podium. As I stated with my previous pick, although from the outsiders perspective the Lions seem set at WR with Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, the cupboards are almost bare after those two guys. They have to find a 3rd WR in this draft without question. If there are any injuries to any of the starters, the situation could get dire very fast in Detroit.

Cody Latimer has been projected by some go in the first but with a really deep WR draft class, he could go anywhere depending on what team falls in love with him. At 6'3" and 215lbs, he has the size to be a productive outside receiver in the NFL. He has some work to do on his route running but with two pros in front of him, he will have plenty of time to pick up the nuances of being an NFL receiver.

Trevor Woods: In 2013, the Lions passing game relied all too much on Calvin Johnson, who was double covered most of the time. Besides Johnson, the options at receiver for the Lions were less than inspiring. Detroit has already added Golden Tate this offseason, and with the pick of Latimer here, their options at receiver have the potential to be dangerous. Jim Caldwell will want his own hand-picked weapons to work with, and Latimer will be that for him.

Nick Chiamardas: The big bodied, former basketball star has seen his draft stock rise incredibly over the last month. Still a little raw with his technique and route concepts, Latimer has the size and strength of a basketball player allowing him out jump his opponents while shielding them from the ball. Pairing him with Calvin Johnson almost seems unfair should he even come close to recognizing his potential on the field.
