With the 48th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, JMichael39 and the Baltimore Ravens select Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State. Here are his thoughts on the pick:
Although I was targeting Tennessee RT JaWuan James, to have Adams fall into our laps is a no-brainer. He instantly makes the offense better by giving Flacco another serious threat to throw to. Other top WRs wee also available and viable options (Bryant, Richardson, Landry and so on). ILB was also a legitimate option (Shane Skov). But its difficult to ignore Adams.
Trevor Woods: The Ravens didn't address their need at receiver in the first, doing so here is a must. Joe Flacco desperately needs help and most of the highly touted receivers are already off the board. Adams ranks among the best options here at the position, along with Martavis Bryant and Donte Moncrief. Adams, at 6'2", possesses great vertical ability and great hands.
Nick Chiamardas: The second round run on receivers continues with Adams landing in Baltimore. Adams benefited from playing in an attacking style offense in college allowing him to put up video game-like numbers. Still, Adams possess several key traits scouts and GMs look for when drafting receivers like size and athletic ability. He'll need to refine his technique to consistently get open against the jam and he won't consistently blow the top off the defense. Adams could flourish in Baltimore where he'll play behind Desean Jackson and Torrey Smith and may even excel in Anquan Bolden's former role in the slot.
