49ers launch 100-day social media countdown to Levi's Stadium opening

@LevisStadium on Twitter

Last week, the San Francisco 49ers launched a 100-day countdown to the opening of Levi's Stadium. The 49ers new stadium will open with an MLS soccer match on August 2 between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Seattle Sounders FC. That will be followed by two 49ers preseason contests and then the regular season opener, although I suspect there might be a concert or other event mixed in there.

As they prepare for the opening, the plan is to use a lot of social media to help educate folks about the new stadium. This will cover what goes on inside, but also things like parking, transportation to the stadium and plenty of other topics. We'll have plenty on this as well leading up to the opening. Plenty of people here will not be attending games at the new stadium, but enough will that there is plenty of valuable information to share.

In celebrating the 100-day countdown, Levi's Stadium social media accounts are running some contests with prizes including tickets to stadium events like the Oregon-Cal football game in October; gift cards to the 49ers Museum and Team Stores; and items from the stadium partners such as Levi's, Pepsi, Sony.

It looks like they'll be posting pictures of different things connected to the stadium and the game-day experience. Here are two recent examples:

You can also find clues on the stadium's official Facebook page, and its Instagram account. There will be plenty of buzz surrounding the stadium, but they want to add a little something extra. And who doesn't like a chance at free stuff?

If you're on any of the three social media platforms, give them a follow to learn more about the stadium. And we'll be back with plenty more on the stadium, particularly transportation options down there. People can drive down, but Caltrain, the VTA and other options will be available to get people to the new stadium from as far away as Sacramento and the Central Valley.
