Ravens get trade buzz rumors flowing, could move up for Odell Beckham Jr. be on 49ers radar?

The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly taking calls on their No. 17 pick, and the 49ers might have Odell Beckham Jr. on their radar. Potentially connected? We'll see in a week.

The 2014 NFL Draft is a week away, which means people the rumor mill is moving in to overdrive. Earlier today, the Baltimore Ravens draft brain trust conducted a press conference, and in it, general manager Ozzie Newsome mentioned he had taken some calls from teams looking to potentially move up to the Ravens 17th pick. It's possible this is entirely true, and it's also possible he's doing this to drum up further interest.

Naturally, this got people talking about whether the 49ers are one of the teams that have expressed interest. The two teams have a seemingly solid relationship. They are coached by brothers and the two sides did the Anquan Boldin deal last year, so it would not be entirely surprising to see the two sides do another deal. Additionally, a move up to 17 would potentially get the 49ers a chance at some solid talent, without costing them like a move into the top ten might take.

So who might the 49ers be interested in if they did move up? Well, according to Eric Branch, maybe it's LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Branch is reporting a source is hearing the "same buzz" he heard last year that the 49ers were interested in an LSU player. A year ago March, Branch wrote this article discussing a source saying the 49ers had "spent plenty of time doing background" on Eric Reid. I would imagine he is using the same source in this instance.

Tre9er wrote about Beckham earlier this month, and it's safe to say he is a big fan. He views him as potentially the best wide receiver in this class. He thinks he needs some coaching, but otherwise has the tools to develop into a No. 1 receiver.

The bigger question might be whether or not the 49ers can move up enough to get Beckham. We don't really know how teams view him, but instead are left with media projecting him as high as Top 11 or 12. A 49ers move up to the Ravens pick (or any other pick) would not go down until the 49ers knew a player they wanted was there for the grabbing. If they make the move up, we'll know they have a specific guy in mind. They've got the assets to make the move, now we'll just wait another week to see if it happens.
