NFL Draft results: CB Keith Reaser to San Francisco 49ers with pick No. 170

The San Francisco 49ers drafted Florida Atlantic cornerback Keith Reaser with pick No. 170. He'll be an NFI list candidate.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers continue to stock up talent, using their second 5th round pick to draft Keith Reaser, a cornerback out of Florida Atlantic University. He stands 5'10, 189 pounds, and tore his ACL last October. He had a second surgery on the knee in February after they found problems with the previous surgery. This would seem to make him a likely NFI list candidate. Here's what NFL.com had to say:

Good-sized, smooth, patient, controlled corner who played through a broken ring finger as a senior and is coming off October ACL surgery that could still be restricting upon his arrival in the NFL.

Fooch's Update: According to Mayock, Reaser ran a 4.3 40 a year ago in spring ball. Talk about fast!

The 49ers have added nine players through five rounds of the draft. They hold three more picks, and they very well could be fine just bringing in 12 players and letting it all play out come training camp. Even if Reaser ends up on the NFI list, there will still be tons of competition. Last year, we saw the 49ers trade Parys Haralson and Cam Johnson late in training camp to clear out roster space. They turned both into seventh round picks. While sevenths are mostly fliers, they can also serve as quality trade chips to move up in another round. We saw that this year, as the 49ers were able to mix in some sevenths to do their deal with the Broncos for a 2015 4th round pick.

1. First round: Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois
2. Second round: Carlos Hyde, RB, Ohio State
