The 2014 NFL Draft is officially a wrap! The San Francisco 49ers entered the week with 11 draft picks, and after some wheeling and dealing, they came away with 12 players. They were incredibly active on Day 2, making four separate trades, along with their trade for Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson. However, on Day 3, they had seven picks and they were perfectly content to just pick their players and move on.
Here is a rundown of the 49ers entire 2014 NFL Draft class:
1(30). Jimmie Ward, defensive back, Northern Illinois
2(57). Carlos Hyde, running back, Ohio State
3(70). Marcus Martin, center, Southern California
3(77). Chris Borland, inside linebacker, Wisconsin
3(100). Brandon Thomas, offensive lineman, Clemson
4(106). Bruce Ellington, wide receiver, South Carolina
4(129). Dontae Johnson, cornerback, North Carolina State
5(150). Aaron Lynch, defensive end/outside linebacker, South Florida
5(170). Keith Reaser, cornerback, Florida Atlantic
6(180). Kenneth Acker, cornerback, Southern Methodist
7(243). Kaleb Ramsey, defensive end, Boston College
7(245). Trey Millard, fullback, Oklahoma
We'll have plenty of analysis and background information on the 49ers entire draft class in the coming days. Of course, this does not complete the 49ers "rookie" class. The team now heads into the always-entertaining waters of undrafted free agency to see which undrafted rookies they can add to the roster.
We'll be tracking the UDFA rumors, which will flow fast and furious today, tomorrow and beyond. There will be some incorrect information out there in part because things happen so fast. Player X will get an offer from one team, but could change his mind at the last minute because a situation offering more playing time opens up.
Feel free to start discussing UDFAs in here, but I'll have a new post in a bit with some names we can keep an eye out for over the coming hours and days.
