How much are you worth Michael? Remember the 2009 draft where our cross the Bay neighbors chose WR Heyward-Bey and the best college WR fell to the 49ers. That man was Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech. He had a couple of productive years in his first few seasons. Then in 2012, he exploded with his 1st 1,000 yard season to go along with 9 TDs. In those playoffs, he had almost 300 yards in 3 games and had 3 TDs. An injury in last year's training camp forced him to miss 11 games. While he has been an important piece to the Niners offense, the team has to make an important decision next offseason.
With Brandon Marshall signing his new contract extension that averages about $10 million a season, Michael Crabtree could be looking for something around that kind of money. The team has to decide if they think he is worth that. Crabtree has not shown the consistency that Marshall has shown, but it could be said that Alex Smith is no Jay Cutler for those 1st couple seasons. Michael has hit his stride with Kap taking the snaps and they seem to have a good connection. They have yet to have a full season playing together and this year could be big for Crabtree to show how much money he is worth. While I think the team wants to sign him to an extension, I really don't see them paying more than $8-9 million a year at most. Again, the Chicago Bears somehow find themselves in Niners contract talks.
