Good morning everyone, the biggest piece of news from yesterday was the 49ers opening their rookie minicamp. It's open to both rookies and second year players who spent no time on the 53 man roster last season. That means NFI players like Marcus Lattimore were able to participate. There are no pads, only helmets and clothes, so getting a complete picture of the players will be impossible. But despite that, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the guys look in practice.
Unfortunately we didn't get to see as much as we would have liked as some of the more intriguing players were either unavailable or limited. Marcus Lattimore and first round pick Jimmie Ward were both limited from minor injuries and Luke Marquardt was cut last night after not showing up for the first day of camp. According to Matt Barrows, Marquardt was eligible to participate due to being on the NFI all last season, but for some reason he wasn't on hand to participate. I was a little surprised at the move since Marquardt is young and has ideal Tackle measurements. He has those long arms that Baalke seems to love and at 6'8 and 315, he certainly looks the part. The decision could have been due to him not showing up, or it could be that his injury is more serious than we realized. At this point it's hard to tell what really happened. To the links!
