Golden Nuggets: 100 Days

Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet

100 days to the start of the NFL season. We can finally see the stories that will play out during OTAs and training camp. The top story would be how the receiving corp will continue to grow with Kap. We can see the level of understanding that Kap has with Boldin and Crabtree, but it should be interesting to see how Johnson and the rest of the receiving corp look. This is the best unit that Kap has had to throw to, so we should see some big advances in his passing game.

There is a couple of interesting battles that will play out in the next couple months. One of them being who backs up Frank Gore. Kendall Hunter probably has the inside track as a change of pace runner, but Lattimore and Hyde were the 2 best RBs in their drafts. With Frank in his last few seasons, we need to see who will take the mantle from him.The biggest position battle should be the battle for cornerback. Tramaine Brock seems to be one of the starters, but there should be a battle for the other starting job. Culliver, Ward, Wright, and Cox will all be fighting for that position. I think Culliver will eventually win out. The other rookies could provide good competition for the veterans. Let the competitions begin!
