With the 57th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, CraigRED&GOLD and the San Diego Chargers select Ka'Deem Carey, RB, Arizona. Here are his thoughts on the pick:
The Chargers need depth behind the talented but often injured Ryan Mathews, and Carey can provide that. He is an every down back who rarely ever goes down on first contact. He has good vision, agility and is an above average pass blocker. I personally like him more than Tre Mason or Carlos Hyde who are both generally ranked higher. I wanted a tackle or center at this selection but there wasn't enough value at either position.
Trevor Woods: With the signing of Donald Brown, while also carrying Ryan Matthews, Danny Woodhead, and Ronnie Brown on the roster, a selection of running back here might not be the best bet. The Chargers need a cornerback, pass rusher, and could even use a tight end to be the heir apparent to Antonio Gates. Running back doesn't appear to be a pressing need, and they could utilize this pick to improve their team for 2014 in a tough AFC West division.
Nick Chiamardas: The Charges got the best season yet out of Ryan Matthews last year and Danny Woodhead really complemented him well. Still, I like this pick for the value. Carey isn't a fast RB but what he lacks there he makes up for with power and deceptive elusiveness.
