The 2014 Niners Nation NFL mock draft is off and running. We move on to the San Francisco 49ers, courtesy of user Tre9er.

Spruce Derden-USA TODAY Sports

We're back for the 61st pick of the 2014 Niners Nation Community Mock Draft. You can see previous picks below in the draft table. You can also follow the mock draft board through this story stream.

With the 61st pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, Tre9er and the San Francisco 49ers select Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss. He also considered LSU wide receiver Jarvis Landry and USC safety Dion Bailey. Here are his thoughts on the pick:

I'm on record as not being fond of Moncrief's hands, but he has rare size and speed at the position. This is the very bottom of the second round, which is great value for a guy who some consider worthy of a late-first. Although Moncrief may drop a pass here and there, so did guys like Brandon Marshall, Cecil Shorts, and Wes Welker. There's a point where the big-play ability trumps so-so hands, too, and Moncrief has the former in spades. Plus, I think he can improve his hands with hard work, much like Vernon Davis did.

Landry is a much more reliable receiver, and easily could have been the pick here, but I felt that Moncrief brought more to the table, has a higher upside, and Landry could be available later in the draft. It was a tough decision, but you have to lean towards athleticism in the draft. You can find "solid" much more easily.

Bailey or another safety prospect was also a consideration but the value didn't feel right for a guy who'd be a special teamer and most-likely sit on the bench for most of the defensive snaps, for a few years at least.

Trevor Woods: The second round has been kind to the 49ers. With Moncrief the 49ers are getting a player who has the combo of good height and exceptional speed, which is something the Niners desperately need at the position. Not only can Moncrief beat corners down the field with his speed, he can also out jump most corners when the coverage is tightly contested and it is a jump ball situation. There are negatives to Moncrief's game, as he does drop catchable passes and run sloppy routes sometimes, but the upside outweighs the negatives on tape. I love this pick and if the 49ers are to draft a receiver here, it should be Moncrief.

Nick Chiamardas: I would be ecstatic if the 49ers landed Moncrief in the second. Especially if they haven't already grabbed a WR with their first two picks. Moncrief is an athletic freak with size and speed to spare. If you're planning on scouting Moncrief, I encourage you to check out his 2012 tape in addition to 2013. It was far more indicative of his capabilities.
