San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman is in the midst of rehabhing his knee and get ready for the 2014 season, but he is also continuing his engagement off the field. Bowman will be making an appearance at the Bayview YMCA on June 12, and then following that with a June 14 football camp in Forestville, Maryland.
The Bayview YMCA event will apparently include a Bowl for Youth event. Ian Williams, Chris Culliver, and Demarcus Dobbs are all expected to be in attendance. Vernon Davis and Patrick Willis might also be in attendance, but Bowman's people were not positive.
Over the weekend, Bowman will host his second annual football camp at Suitland High School in Forestville, Maryland. The camp will run 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET. Several current and ex-49ers are expected to attend the camp, including Williams, Dobbs, Anthony Dixon and potentially some others. The camp is in association with the USA Football Association, and will include teaching fundamentals, and also have some guest speakers discuss various issues related to healthy living. Right now it sounds like about 240 kids are registered for the camp.
Additionally, Prince George's County is honoring Bowman with June 14 being declared NaVorro Bowman Day in the county.
If you're a 49ers fan in the DMV area, the "Mid Atlantic Niner Empire Chapter" will be in attendance. They will be holding a meet and greet event Friday evening from 5-6 p.m. at the District Heights Chik-Fil-A. If you're in the area, check it out. I won't be attending the Friday evening, but I'm planning on swinging out to the football camp on Saturday.
