Golden Nuggets: You Got Paid What You Deserved

Tuesday, June 17th, 2014 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet

It seems Vernon Davis is planning on following through on his holdout. He is looking to sign a new contract because as he says " It's all about getting paid what you deserve". I'm usually for players looking to get more money if they deserve it, but in this case I am not. There are other players that are more worthy of pay raises. The team has decisions to make with Boone, Crabtree, and Iupati, who all deserve more money.

Davis received his very lucrative contract in 2010 worth $37 million with a guaranteed $23 million dollars. It was a record contract for a tight end. At the time, he deserved it, which is why the team signed him to it. His contract was settled. The team has bigger contract decisions to decide over now. Davis has 2 years left and should honor that contract, but he probably will not.
