Golden Nuggets: Don't Believe The Hype

Day one of minicamp finally arrived and the big news other than Davis and Boone holding out is Greg Roman speaking about the Niners offense. For the last few years, the Niners have been the definition of a ground and pound offense. Running behind one of the best offensive lines, they built a reputation as an offense that was glad to run through you rather than throw over you. But with some of the acquisitions, it only makes sense that the offense may have to be opened up.

With Stevie Johnson now joining Crabtree and Boldin in the receiving corp, it gives the Niners the firepower to throw the ball more often. But as much as it makes sense, the Niners are still built on the run. With Boone holding out, it leaves a hole in the offensive line. But the Niners will still rely on ball control offense and winning the field position battle. I expect Kap's throwing numbers to improve, but the ground and pound is not going anywhere Niner fans.
