All this talk of a different offense is due to the offseason acquisitions and the inability of the passing game last year. Don't be fooled. This offense is a running offense. There is absolutely no debate about that. Does the offense need to be able to throw more effectively? Absolutely. There's no question. Kaepernick needs to take the next step in his career and show he can throw more effectively. That is the only question critics have in his abilities.
With the addition of Stevie Johnson, the return of an injury free Crabtree, and the rest of his weapons, Kap has no excuses to not progress in his passing abilities. We all know he has the arm to complete any pass necessary to succeed. Now with another year under his belt in this offense, we should see good improvement from the Niners franchise QB. But with all that being said, this team is going to grind defenses with its running game. It just now has the ability to scare teams who try to stack the box. Same "different" offense.
