Good morning, everybody! It's a quiet, lazy Sunday, which makes it a perfect time to catch some World Cup action. I figured for today and tomorrow's matches we'll have an open thread, and then have a new one for USA-Belgium.
Today features Mexico vs. Netherlands to start the day at 9 a.m. PT. That is followed by Costa Rica vs. Greece at 1 p.m. Monday opens with France vs. Nigeria at 9 a.m., and that is followed by Germany vs. Algeria at 1 p.m. I'm not entirely sure how entertaining Costa Rica-Greece will be given Greece's often defensive approach. They stepped it up in their third group match, so I suppose it could end up a fun contest. The other three however should be plenty of fun.
We're coming off a Saturday that saw an excellent penalty kick situation in Brazil's win over Chile, and then a great performance from James Rodriguez in Colombia's win over Uruguay. Hopefully we get more of that the next two days.
