Vernon Davis reports on time to 49ers training camp

C.J. Spillman has broken the news we've all been waiting for this offseason! Vernon Davis is at camp.

Congrats to C.J. Spillman on getting this scoop! Vernon Davis has reported to San Francisco 49ers training camp. Spillman tweeted out this Instagram video of Davis arriving in the locker room:

This is obviously a pretty huge deal considering Davis had skipped the offseason workout program, and mandatory minicamp. The 49ers will continue to wait for Alex Boone, but for now, getting Davis back is huge. This offense has numerous weapons, and getting them all on the same page with each other and with Colin Kaepernick is important. We're talking about a group that includes Davis, Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin, and Stevie Johnson. And of course, there are young options that include Vance McDonald, Quinton Patton, and Bruce Ellington.

It remains to be seen if Vernon will get a new contract, but reporting to camp is probably the best opportunity for him to work things out. Joe Staley attended the entire offseason workout program, and got a new deal before camp. In 2011, Frank Gore held out a few days, but once he arrived, the two sides were able to negotiate a new deal. We'll see if Vernon Davis follows with a new deal. Whether he does or does not, it's great to have him in camp.
