The San Francisco 49ers running back depth might have just gotten a little more thin for the time being. According to the beat writers, LaMichael James was carted off the field with an injury to either his left arm or wrist. He suffered the injury during a blitz pick-up drill as he was looking to stop linebacker Michael Wilhoite. The media specifically used the words "carted off", which is an intriguing turn of phrase for an arm or wrist injury.

It is way too early to know what this injury is, but getting carted off is never a good thing. Twitter has turned into moderate hysteria with some people talking about the extent of the injury, and others already talking about trade candidates. If James is out an extended period of time, there could be a potential need at running back, but it would be nice to actually have more of a hint of what happened. That information will probably leak out tonight or early tomorrow.

I'd imagine James will get an X-ray, and potentially an MRI depending on what they see. From there, we'll get a better handle on the situation. For now though, I think this best sums up some 49ers fans right now:
