Golden Nuggets: We Talking About Practice

The 49ers finished up their joint practices with the Baltimore Ravens and traveled back to San Francisco. The 3 days of practice gave the team a look at their players against some real competition rather than just their own teammates. It looked like the injury bug that had plagued the team earlier in training camp struck again while in Baltimore. WR Chuck Jacobs tore his ACL during the exhibition game on Thursday night while Demarcus Dobbs and Lawrence Okoye were also injured. During the 3 days of practice, Adam Snyder and Quinton Patton were injured during one of the practice sessions. It looks like all the injuries other than the Jacob's injury were just minor.

The team needs to find a way to get to the regular season without any more injuries. While their depth is a strength of the team, it is being tested right now. The 3rd day of practice with Baltimore was done without pads, which is a good thing for the Niners. The players need to be ready for the regular season, but it may be beneficial for the coaching staff to hold some of the players back from meaningless games. No reason to risk key players from potentially getting injured.
