Golden Nuggets: Is the Michael Wilhoite vs. Chris Borland battle actually close?

Friday, August 15, 2014 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning ladies and gents. The San Francisco 49ers have their second preseason game against the Denver Broncos coming up and I'm excited. The first preseason game was, obviously, a disaster. And I think we all know the second game isn't exactly the most-important one of them, but I feel like the 49ers are going to want to come out and look at least a little bit better.

Let's hope we don't see too much Blaine Gabbert, yeah? I think the most interesting battle is the one between Michael Wilhoite and Chris Borland, though to be honest I'm not buying any of the talk that suggests the battle is close. The 49ers coaches will say what they're going to say, but I don't see how Borland will come close to making this a real thing. I believe Wilhoite is the guy, based on what he managed last season in relief of Patrick Willis.

Onto your links.
