The San Francisco 49ers are back for their Week 3 preseason contest against the San Diego Chargers, and it will be nationally televised. And when I say nationally televised, I mean real national TV, and not just NFL Network national TV. FOX will be broadcasting the game live at 1 p.m. PT.
The national FOX game means we get the dulcet tones of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman calling the game. I know that annoys some folks to no end, but the two of them have kind of grown on me. People complain about Buck's lack of excitement, but given that I am paying fairly close attention to what is actually happening in the game, I don't think I am actually concerned with the tone of Joe Buck's voice. That being said, I think there are plenty of announcers that are worse. For example, I much prefer Buck and Aikman to Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. To some extent, I prefer them to the Monday Night crew. Mike Tirico is solid, but Jon Gruden's voice just sort of grates on me. That and all of his "This guy" and "That guy". I can put up with any of them, but I prefer others.
As this is a nationally televised game, the NFL.com Preseason Live stream will be blacked out. You can watch the game on replay through Preseason Live, but you will not be able to watch it live on Preseason Live.
