Fooch's Update: Here is our first recap

The San Francisco 49ers wrap up their preseason Thursday evening when they face the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium (I only just learned it is no longer Reliant Stadium!). The 49ers are coming off their first win of the preseason, a 21-7 victory over the San Diego Chargers. This is the third time the 49ers and Texans have met in the preseason.

Unfortunately, Thursday's game will not be nationally televised. The 49ers first two preseason games were on NFL Network, and the third was the FOX Game of the Week. This final one will be broadcast in the Bay Area and the Texans market, but nowhere else as far as I can tell.

The fourth preseason game is some mix of the best and the worst of preseason football. We see the starters for very limited snaps, and a decent amount of starters don't even play. However, this is the last chance for our irrational fandom of some fifth string player. We more or less know most of the 53-man roster, but there are just enough position battles left that we can find reasons to keep watching well into the second half.

What will you be watching for in the preseason finale? I'd like to see something positive from the first string offense, but I'm not overly concerned about that. Well, the one thing I want to specifically see is Jadeveon Clowney against the 49ers offensive line. Clowney is dealing with an injury however, so we might not get to see him. Other than that, I'm curious to see how the backup offensive line looks. Ryan Seymour and Carter Bykowski, in particular, could be battling for maybe one roster spot.

And of course, we enter the final act of the tragi-comedy that is Blaine Gabbert vs. Josh Johnson. Some think both make the roster, but I remain convinced Gabbert is the only quarterback behind Colin Kaepernick when Week 1 rolls around.

Live Online Stream: The game will be available on NFL.com/preseasonlive.
