The San Francisco 49ers are back for Day 9 of training camp practice. It's an early practice today, getting going at 10:30 a.m. PT, so we should see some recaps in the 1 p.m. hour, give or take. That will be followed by a Vic Fangio press conference.
The big thing today is the nose tackle position. The 49ers lost Glenn Dorsey for an undetermined amount of time due to a torn biceps muscle. Dorsey suffered the injury on Friday, and was replaced by Mike Purcell in the starting lineup. Purcell will get a shot, but Quinton Dial and Tony Jerod-Eddie both could also get some opportunities in the role. The 49ers PR listed Dial as the No. 2 nose tackle in their unofficial depth chart, with Mike Purcell right behind him. We'll see if Dial ends up getting the bulk of the opportunities, or if Purcell has earned some trust. There is plenty else to keep an eye on in practice today, but this is the most important right now.
I've posted the media Twitter list down below, so you can follow practice there. I'll be back with a recap, and later in the afternoon we should have a transcript of Fangio's press conference. Given Dorsey's injury, it will be particularly interesting to watch.
