ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting San Francisco 49ers offensive guard Alex Boone is expected to end his holdout and report to the team in the next 24 hours. Schefter is reporting the two sides have agreed on a re-worked 2-year deal. Boone was previously signed through the 2015 season, so this would not be an extension. Instead, it likely is some kind of boost in pay.
The 49ers had been playing Joe Looney at right guard all offseason. They released Adam Snyder on Saturday, but kept rookie offensive lineman Dillon Farrell. Boone was not a part of the team's 53-man roster, so the team will need to release somebody to make room for Boone. One option would be to wait until Tuesday when they can put Glenn Dorsey on injured reserve with the return designation. If Boone reports on Monday, Farrell could be the guy who gets released. We'll find out soon.
For now, the return of Boone means the 49ers offensive line is back to full strength. Joe Looney moves back to the swing guard. Given that Farrell has more general center experience than Looney, that could buy Farrell some time on the roster.

What did #49ers for Alex Boone? Rolled his incentives into base salary. Boone can make $6M over 2 years. Would've made $5.75M if he started

Fooch's Update #5 - 9:32 a.m.
If #49ers G Alex Boone is an All-Pro twice over the next two seasons, he'll earn $8M, I'm told... Which would be a win-win.
