Golden Nuggets: Cook Shines

New, comments

Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Today, the Niners stepped onto the lush grass of Levi's Stadium for the 1st time. Jim Harbaugh ran a down tempo practice to let the players get a grip on their surroundings. An estimated 10,000 fans (including me) went to check out the team practice. The defense shined and Chris Cook shined brightest. The cornerback had 2 interceptions, one against Josh Johnson and the other against Blaine Gabbert. It looks obvious that his time working on ball skills has paid off. The defense also collected another 3 interceptions. Darryl Morris and Chris Borland added an interception each and Cox did his best reenaction of a play that all Niners remember from that one game in Seattle in January. He intercepted a pass from Kap in the back corner of the end zone.

In Niners roster news, the team waived Kendall Hunter today. He tore his ACL earlier in the preseason and could end up back on IR if he clears waivers. Carlos Hyde appeared to injure himself when he muffed a kickoff and walked off the field with the head trainer. He returned with a glove and finished the rest of the practice. The only thing us fans could think of is let's get to the season before the injury list keeps growing.
