The San Francisco 49ers will be without offensive tackle Anthony Davis in their preseason opener, but it sounds like he will be ready in time for Week 1 of the regular season. Anthony Davis posted the following photograph to Instagram, with this caption:

I know I'm not the only one excited for the 49ers on Thursday Night Football. I'll be back week 1 for sure. I'm jealous that they get to go kick ass tomorrow. I might get a crackback block with my sweats on if the opportunity presents itself. lol Jk. #PreFineMe

Davis has been sidelined with a shoulder injury, suffered during the 49ers Week 3 loss to the Indianapolis ColtsHe had surgery in the offseason, and has been rehabbing it ever since. He, along with Justin Smith, have worked on rehab in camp, but have stayed on the sideline during team drills. I would not be surprised if Justin Smith joined him on the sideline for all four preseason games.

Jonathan Martin has been getting most of his practice time in place of Davis at right tackle. Reports have not been positive thus far, but we'll see what a preseason game brings. I'll be keeping an eye on Martin to see if he continues to struggle, or if getting back into game action changes things up a bit. He does not have any guaranteed money in his contract, so he's going to need to show some things to justify a roster spot.
