49ers vs. Ravens, Preseason Week 1: Welcome to the 2014 season!

The 49ers open their preseason against the Baltimore Ravens. We take a look at pertinent details related to the game, as well as provide an open thread for discussion.

It's football time! The games may not count in the wins and losses, but for the hard core fan, this is a chance to really start to see where the team stands in its position battles. We won't get any final answers today, and we could end up with more questions than answers, but at least we see something. Practice reports are great, but at some point you just want to see things actually happen!

The position battles will be impacted today, but things can change on a dime. A strong performance today can be cut down to size by a poor performance next week. In the same fashion, a poor performance today can be quickly forgotten with a big performance next week. We'll see what the game brings.

We'll have plenty to break down after the game, but for now, here's your first game thread. Here is a rundown of pertinent information related to the game.
