Chicago Bears promote 2 wide receivers from practice squad to 53-man roster

The Chicago Bears have reportedly promoted two wide receivers to their 53-man roster. What does this mean for the statuses of Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, and Josh Morgan?

The Chicago Bears made an intriguing roster decision Saturday afternoon. According to Brad Briggs, the Bears have promoted wide receivers Josh Bellamy and Chris Williams from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. They also promoted center Taylor Boggs.

The Boggs move is not a surprise since starting center Robert Garza will not play. However, the Bellamy and Williams moves are at least a little bit interesting. Josh Morgan is doubtful for the game, while Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery are both questionable. Marshall is dealing with an ankle injury, while Jeffery is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Marshall and Jeffery are both expected to be game-time decisions. The promotion of a second wide receiver from the practice squad could tell us one of the two receivers will not play. However, it is probably safe to assume the Bears are going to get Jeffery and Marshall on the field for pre-game warmups and see how their respective injuries react. They have until 90 minutes before the game to decide on their inactives, but I would suspect we will get some kind of information before that from one of the national reports.
