Week 3 AM games feature NFC East showdown, one NFC West game

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers kick off at 1:05 p.m. PT, which means we get a few hours of morning NFL action to keep us occupied. The AM slate is not loaded, but there are some fun matchups to watch. The Red Zone channel should keep us at least mildly interested!

The AM slate includes one NFC West team in action. The St. Louis Rams host the Dallas Cowboys in a matchup of 1-1 teams. Both the Cowboys and Rams bounced back from poor performances in Week 1 to get their first wins. I would think the Cowboys offense is too much for the Rams, but that Cowboys defense could be what keeps the Rams in this game.

The NFC East gets its big division opener with the Eagles hosting Washington. The Eagles are 2-0, and get a shot at a Washington team led by Kirk Cousins. Robert Griffin III suffered a dislocated ankle and is out for a while, so Cousins gets his shot. I live in DC, so I get to hear all the RG3 vs. Cousins chatter. It's kind of amusing. Cousins has looked good at times, but he has also looked awful at times. We'll see how long he can keep the QB controversy chatter going.

Here is your full Week 3 AM schedule.
