Golden Nuggets: Flying Low

Another game, another 2nd half with no scoring. The Niners continued this trend of non scoring 2 halves. In 3 games, they have scored 3 total points after leading the game. How is this still happening? The offense has started these games well. Colin Kaepernick started the game 9 for 9 and overall kept the Arizona defense off balance. The 2nd half came and the Cardinals made adjustments. The Niners did not. The running game was non existent. The team needs a good balance between the run and pass game. Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman need to do a much better job of running the second half offense.

For another game running, the Niners showed no discipline and were penalized for a total of 107 yards. That's 2 weeks in a row of a hundred yards worth of penalties. Of course some of the flags were not good calls, but the penalties have to stop. They gave Arizona yards and pushed the Niners offense back. Boldin's lack of composure resulted in a 15 yard penalty pushing a potential 1st and goal from the 6 to the 21 yard line. I somewhat agree with Boldin about the disparity in penalties the last 2 weeks, but some of these penalties are avoidable. They need to stop playing sloppy.

The Niners entertain the Eagles at Levi's Stadium this week and the Eagles are flying high with a perfect 3-0 record. They win games by coming back from 1st half deficits. This is the exact formula the Niners have been failing to handle this year. If they take a lead into halftime, they need to kill the game off in the 2nd half. I'm not losing faith in this team getting it together. They are a veteran team and they will right the ship. But they have to do it this weekend and it will not be easy.
