Every Tuesday when NFL Game Rewind puts up the coaches film from the previous week, the most recent 49ers' game gets downloaded to my iPad and I get to spend the next several hours in my happy place — breaking down Niners' film.
Typically, my notes from each game end up in a document on my computer where they'll sometimes end up in article form here or will form the basis of my thoughts to share on the Better Rivals Podcast. Today — and probably going forward — a lot of them ended up on Twitter. For those of you who haven't gotten sucked in to the Twitterverse, or those that don't happen to follow me, I've compiled those tweets here.
I'll still continue to have more in-depth breakdowns, but this will give you an idea as to my thought process when watching a game, things that I'm looking for, and the like. It also allows me to get some thoughts out on random plays that wouldn't otherwise come up in a separate post or on the podcast because they just weren't important enough.
With the preamble out of the way, let's get to it.

No idea how Stanton manages to complete this ball. pic.twitter.com/XB5HQYHWaO

Boldin’s indecision prevents a big run on ZR. Needs to be looking inside on arc block (36/26), instead blocks no one. pic.twitter.com/HSxmCklb2M

That’s been happening quite a bit this season and is the main reason Kap hasn’t broken off a big run from the RO game yet.

Kap actually gets time in the pocket and finds Stevie over the middle on his third option. pic.twitter.com/BobqQ0LNBO

Have previously mentioned Kap’s run/pass decision making needed to improve. Great example of choosing to run here. pic.twitter.com/pLddTqHSD1

Every ARI pass defender is 9+ yards deep, Kap waits as long as he can in the pocket and picks up 7 when nothing comes open.

Boone crushes poor Kevin Minter inside and takes out Dan Williams with the pile. pic.twitter.com/viThlquQt0

Several good blocks on Hyde’s TD run, none better than Iupati’s on Calais Campbell. pic.twitter.com/QkDJcJOpj9

Say what you will about the 49ers secondary, but tough for them to win when QBs are getting days to throw. pic.twitter.com/T6qb1F6Ula

Winning inside all about leverage. Boone gets too far outside and gets tossed aside by Rucker. pic.twitter.com/NT2kL1C3zS

All that green on the right half of the field and this play only gains a yard. pic.twitter.com/vGXcD8tAyU

Missed opportunity here on 3rd down. pic.twitter.com/TVRkaMty3z

Kap looks away from the bunch side too quickly. Even with two free rushers, he’d have been able to get that ball out.
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Need to check out of the run here and exploit the numbers advantage to the trips side. pic.twitter.com/KllnPfgpIb

That’s also where a packaged play would come in handy. Giving Kap multiple options on the same play prevents need to audible pre-snap.

Brown’s 1st TD: Have to place the blame on Cox for this one. Looks like Cover 3. Cox takes the bait on the curl… pic.twitter.com/Ov3eXPfwNf
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
…and leaves his deep ⅓ vacated. Can’t expect Reid to cover that deep over route.
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Playing his underneath zone (curl/flat) like he should be. MT @BM_Wark: Where is Bethea?
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Campbell single-handedly ruins this pump-seam. Pump to Boldin moves the S, but Kap has to evade rush before throwing… pic.twitter.com/LDmak3M1rO
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
…the seam to Carrier. By the time he can reset, it’s too late.
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Ian Williams really played a fantastic game, especially against the run.
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Brown’s 2nd TD: Brown runs by Ward, but Reid at least shares some of the blame for this one… pic.twitter.com/v7xCMvGh8Y
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Looks like quarters coverage, which means that Reid should be helping on vertical routes from the slot, but he bites on the pump to Fitz.

I’m not into reading body language but... pic.twitter.com/qqMwfS8FGr
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Kap looked incredibly comfortable operating out of that empty look. Worked the middle of the field more than any game I can think of.
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
After Boldin’s UR penalty, took out his frustration on Bethel. Knocked him on his ass a 2nd time after he got up too. pic.twitter.com/shNBZQSGg0
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Such a pointless clipping penalty by Martin. Very unlikely that defender was impacting the play. pic.twitter.com/shvUhQBAU1
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Wasn’t all bad for Ward. Doesn’t bite on the pump to the flat, sinks under the corner and knocks the pass away. pic.twitter.com/3mYOnwGHFe
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Can’t say the same here for Ward. Poor footwork at the top of the route stem, gets turned around. pic.twitter.com/ii1TZVcmOk
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Nice blitz design here by ARI. pic.twitter.com/RzO7Su05PV
— David Neumann (@UndraftedTweets) September 23, 2014
Easy to put the blame on Boone here, but tough for him to handle a S in space. Plus, Hyde’s block limits his mobility pic.twitter.com/eZj9Y01BNS
