Anthony Davis suffers knee injury on Colin Kaepernick sack

The San Francisco 49ers lost right tackle Anthony Davis to a knee injury. He is listed as questionable to return.

The San Francisco 49ers welcomed back right tackle Anthony Davis, but just as quickly he is out again. On the final play of the first quarter, Colin Kaepernick was sacked. As Kap was sacked, he was brought down on the back of Davis's left leg. Davis was down as the broadcast went to commercial, but media in attendance are reporting he walked/limped off the field under his own power. He went straight to the locker room. The limp did not look too bad, but it was there. He is listed as questionable to return with a knee injury.

The departure of Davis means Jonathan Martin is back in the lineup. Martin handled the right tackle role through the first three weeks of the season, so this is not a big change for him. He struggled with consistency those three weeks, but in spite of complaints, he actually was not nearly as bad as some might think.

The 49ers pass protection in general has struggled, so losing Davis is not going to help matters. If Davis does not return, the line only has one backup available. The 49ers deactivated Dillon Farrell with Davis's return, so that leaves Joe Looney as the only option if anybody else gets hurt.
