The San Francisco 49ers lost another player to injury in the third quarter. Tight end Vernon Davis took a hit to the back as he went down on a 5-yard play, and he has been ruled out for the rest of the game. He was on the ground before trainers came out. He then was helped off the field and his back apparently locked up a bit during the walk off the field.

The 49ers were already a man short with Vance McDonald inactive due to a knee injury. Davis's departure leaves the 49ers with Derek Carrier as their primary tight end. Long snapper Kyle Nelson can play tight end, and the 49ers could mix in Bruce Miller as well. The 49ers went to more 4- and 5-WR sets last week without their top two tight ends, but the Eagles seem more than happy to sit back and make Kap beat them through the air.
