Chiefs vs. Patriots: MNF TV schedule, game time and all kinds of Alex Smith

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Week 4 of the 2014 NFL season comes to a close tonight as the Kansas City Chiefs host the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT on ESPN, with Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden and Lisa Salters. The Chiefs are a 3-point underdog, but will have Jamaal Charles back. The running back missed their Week 3 contest due to an ankle injury.

I think the Patriots cover this game with relative ease, but they have been a bit inconsistent this season. They only have four wide receivers active for the game, with one being a primarily special teams player. That would indicate plenty of the ground game for New England.

The San Francisco 49ers face the Chiefs this coming Sunday. The 49ers are opening as 7.5-point favorites, although that number could swing a bit depending on how the Chiefs come out of MNF health-wise. Charles is expected to be a full go for the game, but given his ankle injury, it will be interesting to see how he comes out of it. Knile Davis is expected to get some work.
