San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree spoke with the media Thursday afternoon, and he informed them he will practice on Thursday and play on Sunday. Crabtree was on the team's Wednesday injury list with a calf issue. He described the injury as minor and seems confident he will be good to go in his first ever NFL game in his hometown. Speaking of Crabtree and his hometown, give this longform article about Crabtree a read. Taylor Price put it together for 49ers.com. It's a fun read.
The 49ers will head into the game with a full slate of wide receivers. Brandon Lloyd dealt with a hamstring injury during the preseason, but he was a full participant on Wednesday. The 49ers have quite the corps of receivers with everybody healthy. Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin will likely see the bulk of the targets, but then Kap has Lloyd, Stevie Johnson, Quinton Patton, and Bruce Ellington.
I have to think at least one of these receivers will be inactive, but who will it be? Ellington is listed as the No. 1 kick and punt returner, so could Patton be the inactive receiver? Or maybe both are active. I really don't know. My guess is one of those two is inactive, but it's hard to say.
Crabtree was also asked a couple questions about his contract status, but he would not speak to that. The last update we had was August 21 when someone in Crabtree's camp told Matt Barrows the ball was in the 49ers court.
