Seahawks vs. Packers: TV schedule, game time, live online stream, and GO PACK!

The Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers open the 2014 season on Thursday Night Football. We’ve got all your game information, and why this one matters for the 49ers.

The 2014 NFL season officially gets underway Thursday evening as the Seattle Seahawks host the Green Bay Packers in the now annual Thursday Night Football season opener. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT on NBC, with Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth and Michelle Tafoya handling the broadcast. As this is a game thread, site decorum is off.

We don't really like either team, but I think most of us are rooting for the Packers to spring the early season upset. The Packers are a very solid team, but heading into Seattle is tough for anybody. The New Orleans Saints opened last season up there, and were absolutely drilled by the Seahawks. I think these Packers are better than last year's Saints squad, so this should be a bit more competitive.

The 49ers have plenty of opportunities to claim the NFC West this season, but it's safe to say every game on the schedule is going to be critical. A home loss for either the 49ers or Seahawks could be the difference-maker for the division title, and home field advantage. The 49ers can beat the Seahawks, but I certainly do not want to see them have to do it up at the CLink. And seeing the Seahawks lose at home will be good for our souls.

Tonight's opener won't tell us everything we need to know about these teams, but it will at least give us some hints as to what might be in store for 2014. And no matter what, at least we have football back in our lives!
