49ers vs. Cowboys: The season is here!

New, comments

The San Francisco 49ers open up their 2014 regular season schedule with a road game against the Dallas Cowboys. We've got all the nuts and bolts for the game, as well as an open thread for discussion.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It's football time!!! After an offseason of nonsense, and preseason that was just sort of meh, the San Francisco 49ers finally get back on the field in a game that actually matters. And it's fitting that they open the season against a long-time rival like the Dallas Cowboys.

The 49ers are ranging between 3.5 and 4.5 point favorites in this game. The line climbed as high as six points, but it has come back down with more money coming in on the Cowboys. It is not surprising the public is betting heavy on the Cowboys, but I think the nation is underestimating the 49ers. They've suffered some setbacks to their starting lineup, but this is a team with a lot of depth. Today, we'll start to find out exactly how much.

We'll have plenty to break down after the game, but for now, here's your first game thread, as well as a rundown of pertinent information related to the game.
