49ers inactives vs. Cowboys: Michael Crabtree, Ray McDonald active; Tank Carradine, Quinton Dial inactive

The 49ers and Cowboys released their inactives for Sunday's Week 1 opener. There are some surprises.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys released their inactives for Week 1, and as expected wide receiver Michael Crabtree is active. The 49ers wide receiver was listed as questionable this week while dealing with a calf injury, but few expected him to miss his first NFL game in his hometown.

The 49ers seven-man inactive list includes some surprises. Both second year defensive linemen, Tank Carradine and Quinton Dial are inactive. They both looked good in the preseason, so I am not entirely sure why both would be inactive. Additionally, Chris Cook is inactive, while Dontae Johnson is active. This is a bit of a surprise, given that Cook had a solid camp. Johnson had some solid moments as well, so the team would appear to be comfortable with him as the primary backup on the outside. The decision to deactivate Josh Johnson would seem to indicate Blaine Gabbert's shoulder is in good shape.

49ers inactives: QB Josh Johnson, WB Quinton Patton, CB Chris Cook, DL Tank Carradine, DL Quinton Dial, T Anthony Davis, G Marcus Martin

Cowboys inactives: QB Dustin Vaughan, LB Korey Toomer, DE Jack Crawford, OT Donald Hawkins, OT Darrion Weems, DE Anthony Spencer, DT Terrell McClain
