Sunday is coming to a close, and the San Francisco 49ers are 1-0 following their 28-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys. The game wasn't perfect, with some notable injuries to the secondary, but I'd say all in all, it was a pretty good day.
Long time readers will know what that means for the end of the day. The 49ers PR staff send out a rundown of notable stats and performances following each game. I like to post them and attach a little Ice Cube to call it a day. The 49ers have some work to do to build on this week's win, but that doesn't mean we can't relax a little at the end of the day, and enjoy a win over the Cowboys.
With the Win...
- The 49ers improved to 18-7 on the road in the regular season under head coach Jim Harbaugh. The team's .720 winning pct. is the highest in the NFL during that span.
- Harbaugh becomes the only coach in 49ers franchise history to win on opening day in each of his first four seasons.
- The 49ers improved to 17-16-1 against the Dallas Cowboys all-time.
- The 49ers improved to 5-2 against the NFC East since 2011.
- The 49ers improved to 15-1 when scoring on their opening drive.
- The 49ers improved to 27-5 when scoring first.
Rare Company
- RB Frank Gore rushed for 63 yds. on 16 carries, eclipsing the 10,000-yd. mark for his career. Gore now has 10,030 career rushing yards, becoming the 29th player in NFL history to rush for 10,000 or more yds. in a career, and just the 10th player to reach that mark while also playing 10 seasons with one team.
