Colin Kaepernick arrived in Arizona this weekend, as the San Francisco 49ers quarterback prepares to begin workouts with Kurt Warner and QB coach Dennis Gile. According to Matt Maiocco, Gile will meet with Kap this weekend to present a plan for the next few months. Gile is leading the workouts, but Kurt Warner will be plenty involved. The descriptions of the planned workouts indicate Warner will work with Kap a few days a week on film review, play charting, and other mental aspects of the game. He will then work to implement that, and frequently review it with Warner.
The workouts are scheduled to last approximately 11 weeks and lead up to the start of the 49ers offseason workout program. Due to the 49ers having a new coach, they will be allowed to start their offseason program two weeks early. Teams with new coaches can start their programs on April 6, while returning coaches can get their programs started on April 20.
Kap will get plenty of work in over the next three months, but we won't really see the results until we get into the preseason and regular season. I don't expect some kind of huge transformation, but I think we all are just a little bit curious to see how he looks and performs later this fall.
