Good morning! The San Francisco 49ers are officially entering Week 3 of their coaching search. Dan Quinn and Josh McDaniels will remain on ice as their teams advanced in the NFL playoffs, with the NFC and AFC Championship Games officially set. The Patriots will host the Colts, while the Seahawks will host the Packers this coming Sunday.
The 49ers may or may not be interviewing Todd Bowles this week. There have been reports they want to set up a second interview, but his agent did not have direct knowledge of the situation. That was a curious turn of phrase by Matt Maiocco. I don't really know what he means by it, but I suspect the Barrows and LaCanfora reports of the 49ers interest were not complete BS. It all turns into a semantics game to some extent, but we'll probably find out in the next day or two.
I initially thought the 49ers coach search would wrap up early this week, but it is hard to tell for certain what is going on now. If they are interesting in McDaniels or Quinn it won't be ending any time soon, while if Fangio, Bowles or whomever is the choice, maybe we get some resolution before the week is out. Any predictions at this point on a date we think it will happen?
